A Budget Advisory Committee will refine options such as furlough days, larger class sizes, and reduced transportation before the school board finalizes a new budget by March 15.
   

4. County library to receive $10,000 gift from Carnegie Corporation (thecommunityvoice.com) — Petaluma’s Historic Library & Museum is getting a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation, recognizing its role as steward of the city’s former Carnegie library building. The grant, arriving in January 2026, will support public research, exhibits, and community programs that keep Petaluma’s history accessible. Sonoma County Library and Healdsburg’s museum will receive similar awards.
   

5. Cyclist killed in Petaluma hit-and-run identified, suspect still unknown (pressdemocrat.com) — A 67-year-old San Rafael cyclist killed in a Nov. 22 hit-and-run on Rainsville Road near Stony Point Road in Petaluma has been identified as George Ramos. The driver and vehicle remain unknown, and CHP investigators are asking anyone who saw anything in the foggy overnight hours to call their tip lines. Local residents who travel that area may have crucial information.
