Pedestrian Remains In Critical Condition From Petaluma Crash

The collision between a car and a pedestrian at North McDowell Boulevard and Candlewood Drive remained under investigation.

PETALUMA, CA — A pedestrian remained in critical condition Saturday from injuries suffered in a collision with a car June 4 in Petaluma, police said.

Petaluma police and fire personnel responded around 9:15 a.m. Sunday, June 4, to North McDowell Boulevard and Candlewood Drive where a pedestrian was down on the roadway, suffering from significant injuries.

A driver was trying to make a lefthand turn onto Candlewood from southbound N. McDowell when they struck the pedestrian, Petaluma police Sgt. Zilverio Rivera said.

The pedestrian was walking northbound on N. McDowell and it appeared the collision happened as she stepped off the sidewalk curb to cross Candlewood Drive, Petaluma police Sgt. Zilverio Rivera said.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Rivera said.

The pedestrian was taken by Petaluma Fire Department personnel to an area trauma center, where she remained in critical condition a week later. Her identity was not released Saturday.

The crash remained under investigation to determine the cause. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.
