PETALUMA, CA — Police arrested a man who confronted a Denny's worker on late Thanksgiving night. Petaluma police arrived at the Denny's after a caller reported a disturbance in the restaurant's parking lot on Petaluma Boulevard North.

The caller told police that a man confronted a Denny's worker, who had moved the man's property away from the front door of the business. The caller told police that during the confrontation, the man "brandished" a large knife and threatened the worker.

The man left the Denny's parking lot before police arrived.

Officers later found him nearby. They found a knife when they searched the man, John Cast, 36.

Police charged Cast with assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.

The victim was not physically injured and identified Cast as the person who had confronted him. Cast was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
