Officers arriving on the scene found Salinas-Rurales barricaded inside the room. He repeatedly slammed the door, threw objects inside the room, and ignored numerous verbal commands in both English and Spanish, according to police, who said Salinas-Rurales armed himself with scissors, a chair, and a bicycle frame.

Police said Salinas-Rurales smashed a lamp through the window, sending shards flying that narrowly missed officers standing outside.
