Petaluma Police Arrest Napa Man For Illegal Firearms

The 35-year-old was arrested Christmas Day after he called police to report he was being accused of abusing his dog.

PETALUMA, CA — A man who initially called Petaluma police on Christmas Day after alleging that someone was threatening him with a knife was arrested after responding officers found multiple firearms in his vehicle, police said. Officers responded to the area of North McDowell Boulevard and Ross Street at 11:29 p.m. Monday to a report by 35-year-old Napa resident Randy Myers, who said two people had confronted him and believed he was abusing his dog, according to police.

Myers said one of the people threatened him with a knife, but investigators determined both the dog abuse and knife brandishing allegations were unfounded, police said.

During the investigation, Myers told officers he had a loaded firearm in his vehicle, and a search of the car revealed two loaded handguns, two AR-15 rifles and multiple high-capacity magazines, police said.
