Petaluma Police Plan Parking Enforcement Operation

PETALUMA, CA — The Petaluma Police Department announced it will conduct a parking enforcement operation in District 15, Beat 1, on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to address abandoned vehicles, parking-related complaints, daylighting, expired registration, and other issues in the area while improving community safety, police said.

District 15 is in the southernmost part of Petaluma, east of U.S. Highway 101. It is bordered by the Petaluma River, Lakeville Highway, Casa Grande Road, South Ely Road and Frates Road.

Residents should be aware of posted signage and ensure their vehicle is properly parked to avoid any potential issues, according to police.

"With some exceptions, the city does not allow abandoned, wrecked or inoperative vehicles (or their parts) to be stored or to accumulate on private or public property," police said. "The City has the authority to cite owners and have these vehicles/parts removed when necessary."

Petaluma residents who notice an abandoned vehicle or have other parking-related concerns or complaints in their neighborhood can contact the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372. Callers should be prepared to provide the color, make/model and license plate number of the vehicle in question. Police also need to know if the car has out-of-state plates.
