Petaluma Man Arrested Twice For Alleged Opiate DUI

Nicholas Da la Montanya, 27, was found asleep in his car during one incident, police said.

PETALUMA, CA -- A man was arrested twice this week for allegedly being under the influence of drugs while driving.

Nicholas Da la Montanya, 27, was found asleep in his running car on Thursday around 3:11 p.m. in the area of Colombard Road and Wine Court, according to the Petaluma Police Department.

Authorities said after waking Da la Montanya, it appeared he was under the influence of drugs. After an investigation, officers believe he had used opiates. He was also found in possession of heroin and fentanyl, police said.

The next morning, on Friday, Da la Montanya crashed into another car while driving southbound on Petaluma Boulevard. Officers at the scene believe he was under the influence of drugs again.

Da la Montanya was booked at the Sonoma County Jail and held on $150,000 bail.
