Police Arrest Suspected Prowler In Petaluma
A caller reported seeing the man enter private backyards, examine porches, and attempt to access more properties.

PETALUMA, CA — A 55-year-old Chico man was arrested late Wednesday night after allegedly prowling in a Petaluma neighborhood and refusing to comply with police commands, police said.
Officers responded around 11:50 p.m. to reports of a suspicious individual near Keokuk and Cherry streets, Petaluma police officers noted.

Police located and identified the suspect, Dan Coates, at the scene. He initially refused to follow officers' orders but was eventually taken into custody, police noted.
Authorities said Coates was also found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of prowling, being under the influence, and resisting arrest.
