Teen Rams Into Petaluma Railroad Crossing Gate, Cited With DUI and Theft By Police

Teen cited shortly after midnight Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence​ and committing petty theft at a convenience store.

PETALUMA, CA — Police arrested a teenage driver after his car crashed into a railroad crossing arm in Petaluma.

Police found the teen just after midnight Sunday in a vehicle that had collided with the railroad crossing arm by Washington and Lakeville streets.

They cited the 17-year-old on suspicion of driving under the influence and committing petty theft at a convenience store shortly before the crash.

He had minor injuries.

Medics transported him a local hospital.

Police said the teen had a blood alcohol concentration of .01-.05%, which is illegal for motorists under the age of 21.

Police cited the teen, gave him a court date, then released him to his parents.
