UPS drivers of Sonoma County and North Marin County
Are the nominees considered "essential workers"?:
Yes
What do the nominees do for work?:
Delivery drivers
Why do you believe the nominees should be recognized or honored?
They are laying their lives on the line, delivering nonessential and essential items until all hours of the night. They are allotted 14 hours daily and 60 weekly and are running out of time due to unreasonable demands. They deliver trampolines and furniture, pillows and mattresses, bed frames and wine while medical supplies get skipped. I am asking for praise to those who deliver, and mercy from those who can't understand the difference between essential and nonessential. When a truck is overloaded with 8 lawn chairs, a medically necessary item doesn't get delivered due to physically inability to reach the item and time limits per DOT laws. Please I am begging, stop ordering new smokers and barbecues, treadmills and toddlers' basketball hoops. 150 stops evenly spaced betweeen large and small boxes has been overrun by 250 stops of mostly oversized boxes that block off the small stuff like medicine and masks.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about your heroes?:
They are dedicated and persevere even though they can call out due to this epidemic and injuries and stress. They still show up. They work the maximum hours and come back every week. I am in AWE of their dedication, despite the abuse their bodies are taking. Petaluma HUB CENTER you are my ROCK STARS!
Thank you for all you do, UPS drivers of Sonoma County and North Marin!
