Weather Service Warns of Critical Fire Conditions in North Bay Mountains
Dry and windy conditions will create dangerous fire hazards, officials say.

By Alex Gronke
The dangerous combination of gusty offshore winds and dry brush prompted the National Weather Service to a issue a red flag warning for the East Bay hills, the Diablo Range and the North Bay Mountains beginning at 10 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The weather service warns that that due to low humidity “any new ignitions will experience rapid fire growth.” Offshore wind speeds are expected to reach five to 10 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 25 mph.
