Is This Your Cash? Mystery Envelope Found In Petaluma Shelter: Report
Employees of a Bay Area animal shelter are searching for the rightful owner of a pile of cash found in a stack of old newspapers.
PETALUMA, CA — Workers at a Bay Area animal shelter found an envelope full of cash while they were sifting through their donation box last week. Now, they're searching for its rightful owner.
Employees of the shelter, located in Petaluma, found the cash hidden inside a folded San Francisco Chronicle newspaper, according to the publication.
Mark Scott, executive director of North Bay Animal Services, said the money was found in a stack of newspapers that were donated to the shelter to help cushion animal cages. Scott says he doesn't think the cash was intended to be donated.

There is a name on the envelope, Scott said, which he believes the owner would be able to identify, as well as the amount of cash inside.
"All we really want is for it to go where it was intended," Scott told the Chronicle.
