$15,000 In A Sock, A Stolen Vehicle, Fraudulent Documents: Arrest

A vehicle reported stolen on the Peninsula was spotted in the East Bay.

The person was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, using fraudulent identification and a fraudulent credit card, identity theft and for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.

HERCULES, CA — Hercules police arrested someone in a stolen vehicle who had a bag full of fraudulent documents and $15,000 of cash inside a sock Wednesday morning.

At 8:51 a.m., police received a Flock camera notification of a stolen Toyota 4Runner in the area of Willow Avenue at Cambridge Court.

The vehicle was reported stolen to San Bruno police, who had advised other agencies the vehicle was rented out using fraudulent documents.

Hercules police located the vehicle traveling westbound Highway 4 from Willow Avenue and initiated a "high risk" stop.

The vehicle pulled over on westbound I-80 before the Pinole Valley Road exit. An occupant was detained.

During a vehicle search, an officer located an MCM duffle bag allegedly holding the fraudulent documents and more than $15,000 in cash inside a sock.

The occupant was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, using fraudulent identification and a fraudulent credit card, identity theft and for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.
