Neighborhoods across the country will be joining in the crime prevention rallies from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Tonight is the 30th edition of National Night Out, the nationwide effort to increase awareness about crime prevention and strengthen neighborhood spirit.
More than 9,500 communities across the country as well as Canada and military bases will participate in the event. More than 32 million people are expected to attend the rallies, which are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Residents are urged to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors and police.
Pinole officials have worked for months to organize block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks and other activities in their town.
