Petty Theft/Forgery: On May 9, 2016 at 9:49 p.m. a resident from the 200 block of Grenadine called to report her wallet was taken, on April 29th, from her shopping cart at Lucky. The unknown suspect altered information on a check, which was in her wallet, and cashed the check.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol: On May 9, 2016 at 10:14 p.m., an officer observed a red Ford F150 speeding on Sycamore near Promenade. The Ford was paced at 70mph on Sycamore as it passed Tsushima, and failed to slow for the stop sign. The vehicle yielded on Sycamore at San Pablo Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, 32 year old Donel Joaquim Goodwin, showed objective symptoms of alcohol intoxication. He refused to complete the Standard Field Sobriety Test or use the Preliminary Alcohol Screening device. Goodwin was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. He refused to choose a chemical test and. Search Warrant was issued for a blood draw. The vehicle’s registration was expired in September 2015. Goodwin was later released with a citation to his wife.

Hit and Run/Child Endangerment: On May 10, 2016 at 12:38 a.m. units were dispatched, to the 2200 block of Pheasant, for a solo vehicle collision into a retaining wall. Officers located a Nissan Pathfinder, unoccupied, and the occupant(s) were not on scene. The reporting party said an adult male, and a young male child, walked away from the crashed car. While on scene a tow truck arrived. The tow driver said a tow was requested by a resident in the 1200 block Turquoise. Officer contacted the residents at the Turquoise address. The residents denied any knowledge of who was driving the vehicle. The investigation determined 32 year old Custodio Guiterrez was driving the vehicle. His 4 year old son was a passenger. Guiterrez was found hiding in the back yard a house in the 1200 block of Turquoise and arrested. The collision was determined to have been caused by excessive speed. It appeared the child was not restrained properly in a child seat and was transported to a hospital to be a complaint of shoulder and stomach pain. Guiterrez was later released, so possible injuries could be evaluated. The investigation is continuing for Felony Hit and Run; and Felony Child Endangerment.
