Hercules Man Sells Nikes to Stranger for $280 in Counterfeit Bills
This April Fools joke of sorts cost the victim $20 and a pair of Nikes.

Hercules Police responded to a theft that involved counterfeit money and the sale of a pair of expensive Nikes on Monday, April 1.
The victim said he met the suspect on Facebook and arranged to sell him a pair of Nike shoes for $280. The two met on the 100 block of Tanager to make the transaction. Things got shadier from there, as you can see from the police log:

The suspect said he only had one hundred dollar bills and asked the victim to bring twenty dollars change. The victim met the suspect, in the Lucky’s parking lot, on March 31, 2013. The victim accepted the three $100 bills and gave the suspect the shoes and $20 in change. The victim became suspicious of the money and took it to a local merchant to have it tested. The currency did not react correctly with the marking pen. The investigation is continuing.
