Hercules Police Arrest 2, Seize Gun And Drugs

HERCULES, CA — Hercules police arrested two people Sunday morning with a loaded pistol in their vehicle.

An officer stopped a white 2002 Chevrolet Suburban on westbound Interstate Highway 80 near Willow Avenue.

After contacting the occupants, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and saw other drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The officer searched the vehicle and found a .40-caliber pistol with a fully loaded 14-round magazine inside a bag on the backseat.

Police also discovered three jars of marijuana, one with four sandwich bags full. The driver also had $1,485 in cash in his pocket.

Both occupants of the car were arrested. Police said the driver was transported to jail and the vehicle was towed.
