Hercules Police Log: Drugs In Cars, Drunken Driving, Assault With A Deadly Weapon

Some of the incidents that kept Hercules police officers busy this past week

Here are some of the items listed on the Hercules Police Department log from Sept. 11 to Sept. 17.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Marijuana possession: At 1:44 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3900 block of San Pablo Avenue for a report of some men selling marijuana from the back of a green 1995 Pontiac. The officer found three young men with the vehicle. One of the men, a 23-year-old Oregon resident, said he was trying to get money for gasoline. The officer searched the vehicle and discovered some marijuana. The Oregon man was cited and released with the promise he was going to leave town.

Thursday, Sept. 12

Narcotics arrest: A 23-year-old man was arrested for possession of narcotics after officers stopped his 1989 silver Acura on the 100 block of Linus Pauling and saw methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Saturday, Sept. 14

Drug arrests: Officers stopped a white 2000 Dodge Durango at 2:37 a.m. for erratic driving on Pinole Valley Road. They searched the vehicle and discovered two methamphetamine pipes and several shaved keys. The driver, a 36-year-old El Sobrante man, and a passenger, a 42-year-old Richmond woman, were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

PG&E impostor: A woman told police at 3:50 p.m. that she had been called by someone who said they worked for PG&E and were going to shut off her utilities. The woman followed his instructions to purchase a $500 cash card and to give him the number of the card over the phone.

Driving under the influence: A 37-year-old Hercules man was arrested for driving under the influence after officers stopped his car in the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive.

Sunday, Sept. 15

DUI, Hit-Run: 
Officers were dispatched at 6:03 p.m. to the intersection of Hercules Avenue and San Pablo Avenue, where a light pole had been hit by a car and knocked down. The officers spotted the vehicle leaving the area. They arrested the driver, a 76-year-old Hercules man, for driving under the influence.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Auto burglary: A vehicle owner called police at 7:57 a.m. to report someone had broken the window on their 2013 Dodge Challenger while it was parked on the 3600 block of San Pablo Avenue and stolen a laptop computer.

Assault with a deadly weapon: A resident on the 300 block of Turquoise called police at 3:39 p.m. to report a juvenile had used a shotgun to blast out the driver's side window of a car. Officers searched the area and found three juveniles leaving the garage of a home on Amber Court. Inside the residence, officers found a pellet gun. One of the juveniles was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and transported to juvenile hall.
