Hercules Police Log: DUI Arrests, Counterfeit Bills, Home Burglary
Some of the incidents that kept Hercules police officers busy this past week

Here are some the items from the Hercules Police Department log between Aug. 8 and Aug. 13.
Thursday, Aug. 8
Mail box vandalism: Police were called at 8:03 a.m. by a resident who reported a cluster of mailboxes have been damaged on the 100 block of Glenwood. The boxes appear to have been pried open and mail was apparently missing.
DUI arrest: Authorities were notified at 4:54 p.m. that a man who was yelling at people at a gas station on Willow Avenue had climbed into his gold Chevy Monte Carlo and driven away. Officers stopped the vehicle in a shopping center and arrested the driver, a 34-year-old Hercules man, for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Friday, Aug. 9
Drunken driving: At 9:07 p.m. a patrol officer noticed a gold 1999 Mercedes rolling through several stop signs on Lupine Road. The driver, a 47-year-old Hercules man, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Saturday, Aug. 10
Suspect search: At 11:55 p.m., Hercules officers were asked to help Vallejo police officers pursue a blue Honda that had reportedly been carjacked. The suspect drove into the Victoria Green complex, abandoned the car and ran away. Officers searched the area but failed to find the suspect.
Sunday, Aug. 11
Drug, battery arrest: Officers were dispatched at 12:19 a.m. to a large party on Tamarack Drive where a fight had erupted. Officers discovered three injured people in front of the residence. The homeowner said the fight began when she asked one of the guests to leave because he had brought in narcotics. When police began to arrest the suspect, he fought with them before he was subdued. The 25-year-old man was arrested for battery, resisting arrest and possession of a narcotic.
Counterfeit money: An employee at Taco Bell called police at 10:28 a.m. to report three men had just used a counterfeit bill at the restaurant. Police searched the area but didn't find the suspects.
Monday, Aug. 12
Mental health evaluation: Police were called at 8:47 a.m. by a resident on the 1500 block of Sycamore Avenue who reported a man in a purple jacket was laying on the ground, hugging a utility box. Officers arrived and observed the 34-year-old San Pablo man wander into traffic on Sycamore. They determined the man met the criteria for a mental health evaluation and transported him to the Contra Costa Regional Health Center.
Tuesday, Aug. 13
Home burglary: Officers were notified at 7:57 p.m. that a home on the 100 block of Maritime Terrace had been burglarized. The reporting party noticed the front door was ajar. The residents were away on vacation. Officers entered the home and didn't find any suspects. It's unknown what might have been stolen.
Drug Arrest: At 12:47 a.m., officers stopped a pedestrian on Refugio Valley Road near Country Run. Police found a pipe when they searched the 45-year-old Hercules man. They also found a bag of what appeared to be narcotics near the suspect. The man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
