Man Leads Contra Costa Deputies On Chase, Slams Into Patrol Car

Police said the man fled a traffic stop in El Sobrante and eventually crashed into a patrol car on Interstate 580 in Alameda County.

OAKLAND, CA — A man was arrested early Saturday in Alameda County on suspicion of leading at least one deputy from the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office on a chase and slamming into a deputy's vehicle, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office said.

A deputy attempted to make a traffic stop in El Sobrante around 1:55 a.m., but the driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop and lead the deputy on a pursuit. The suspect's vehicle headed westbound on Interstate Highway 80 into Oakland and then onto Interstate Highway 580.

Just past the I-580 and state Highway 24 split, the suspect slammed on their brakes, turned the vehicle around and then collided with a Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle.
