Storm May Drop Pea-Sized Hail In East Bay

Hail was reported from a storm that was expected to move from the North Bay to the East Bay.

BAY AREA, CA — Pea-sized hail was spotted Monday in some pockets of the North Bay from a storm that was moving through the region, forecasters said.

The hail was reported about noon in Sonoma County locations, including Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and Rohnert Park, the National Weather Service said.

The Santa Rosa Fire Department posted a video showing the hail falling.

A special weather statement warned of wind and hail, and said to seek shelter in a sturdy cover.

The storm was expected to move next to the East Bay and bring small amounts of rain and hail, forecasters said, but not enough moisture to make a dent in the region's ongoing drought.

There was a 20 percent chance of rain, thunderstorms and hail Monday afternoon for the East Bay.
