The Week Ahead: Parcel C, Cell Phone Tower, Local Libraries
Some of the events coming up in the Pinole-Hercules area this week

On Tuesday evening, the Hercules City Council will discuss the sale of two high-profile properties.
The council will be asked to approve a purchase agreement with Property Development Centers of Safeway for the property at the southwest corner of San Pablo Avenue and Sycamore Drive known as "Sycamore Crossing" for $5 million or more.
The council will also consider a proposed agreement with Lewis Land Developers to purchase the "Parcel C" property on the north side of John Muir Parkway for $8 million. Last month, the city terminated an agreement with De Nova Homes to purchase the 17-acre property.
On Wednesday evening, the Pinole City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss the proposed cell phone tower in Pinole Valley Park.
Council members will respond to questions raised by some residents after the 80-foot tower was approved in July.
The council heard comments from a dozen speakers at their meeting last week about their concerns.
This week's meeting begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the council chambers, 2131 Pear St.
Also on Wednesday evening, the West Contra Costa Unified School District board of trustees will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Lovonya DeJean Middle School, 3400 Macdonald Ave.
On the agenda is a recommendation to formally reject a petition to form a charter school in El Cerrito. The board will also approve contracts and hear a report on the district's recently released high school exit exam scores.
On Thursday evening, Contra Costa County library officials will hold a town hall meeting to discuss the Pinole library.
The gathering is part of a series of town hall meetings library officials are hosting to hear suggestions on how to make the library more valuable to the community.
The meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Alex Clark Room of the city's Public Safety Building, 880 Tennent Ave.
On Saturday, the Pinole Farmers Market has its weekly showcase from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of Tennent and San Pablo avenues.
