The Week Ahead: Tree Lots, Coastal Cleanup, Car Show
Some of the things coming up this week in the Pinole-Hercules area

On Monday evening, the Hercules Planning Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting.
On the agenda is a request from ABC Tree Farms for a conditional use permit to temporarily sell pumpkins and Christmas trees this fall on the Sycamore Crossing property at Sycamore Drive and San Pablo Avenue.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Civic Drive.
On Tuesday evening, the academic subcommittee of the West Contra Costa Unified School District will meet, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Helms Middle School, 2500 Road 20 in San Pablo.
On Thursday evening, back-to-school nights will be held at middle schools in the West Contra Costa Unified School District.
On Saturday morning, a volunteer event will be held as part of 29th annual Coastal Cleanup Day. Volunteers will be asked to pick up trash that has accumulated over the past year along San Pablo Bay and Pinole Creek. The clean-up is from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers meet at Bayfront Park, 1 Tennent Ave. in Pinole.
On Sunday, Pinole's annual Fall Festival and Custom Car Show will be held from
10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Fernandez Park, 595 Tennent Ave. They'll be a pancake breakfast, music, dancing, food and, of course, cars.
