Report details for board members the ways the school district can improve

West Contra Costa Unified School District board members heard the good news and the bad news at their meeting Monday night.
A strategic report that analyzes the district's strengths and weaknesses was delivered to the board, according to a story in the Contra Costa Times.
The board was told the district has a low level of trust in the community, poor communication with stakeholders and no sense of urgency to embrace change, the Times reported.
The report, paid for with a $200,000 grant from Chevron Corp., also stated the district has insufficient investment in the development of teachers and a lack of coordination between programs.
The district was commended for diversity, support from the community and overcoming the effects of recent budget cuts, the Times reported.
