Driver Killed In Fiery Pleasant Hill Crash ID'd As Martinez Man
The solo-vehicle crash into a tree is still under investigation, police say.

PLEASANT HILL, CA — A Martinez man who fatally crashed his SUV into a tree in Pleasant Hill early Sunday morning has been identified as 49-year-old Robert Butler, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.
Butler's SUV caught fire after hitting a tree in the vicinity of Pleasant Hill Road and Mercury Way just after midnight.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
