Kmart at DVC Center Is Closing

Kmart, which has operated a store in the DVC for 40 years, is closing in the near future, city officials confirmed Thursday. 

"Kmart is closing," said Economic Development Manager Kelly Calhoun. "We don’t know what the exact date is. We havent’ been part of the discussions with their employees."

According to a story in the Contra Costa Times, the store is set to be closed in mid-January. The Safeway store that was located in the center relocated in February to the site of the former Mervyn's store next to Sun Valley Mall.
