Man Kills Pit Bull That Attacked His Dog
Man stabbed the dog after it attacked his dog during a walk Thursday night.
Bay City News β Β A man stabbed and killed a pit bull after it attacked his dog during a walk in Pleasant Hill on Thursday night, authorities said.
The incident in the 700 block of West Boyd Road was reported around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Animal Services Lt. Dan Barrett said.
A man and his wife were walking their Great Pyrenees-Australian Shepherd mix around the neighborhood when two loose pit bulls approached and began attacking the dog, Barrett said.

The man told police and animal control officers that he kicked the pit bulls to try to get them off his dog. When the pit bulls continued their attack, the man pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed both dogs once, Barrett said.
One of the wounded dogs ran across the street and died, while the other was located by its owner and taken to a nearby veterinary center with severe injuries.

Barrett said that neither the pit bulls nor their owners have any record of neglect and that both dogs were licensed and spayed or neutered.
The incident remains under investigation.Β
