Pleasant Hill Officer Fatally Shoots Dog That Charges Him

Police say the officer initially attempted to ward off the dog physically, but was unsuccessful.

PLEASANT HILL - A police officer shot and killed a dog Sunday morning after the dog allegedly charged at the officer outside of a Pleasant Hill home.

At 11:24 a.m., an officer was dispatched to provide civil advice at a home on Saint Claire Lane, according to police.

When the officer arrived, he was confronted with an unleashed dog that appeared aggressive, police said.

When that didn’t work, the officer shot the dog to protect himself, according to police.
