680 Closure Postponed Due To Rain: Caltrans
A planned weekend closure of southbound I-680 in Pleasanton is postponed until February.
PLEASANTON, CA — Caltrans has canceled its planned closure of I-680 between the I-580/I-680 Connector and Koopman Road in Pleasanton due to predicted rain, the agency announced online Wednesday.
The roadwork, which was scheduled to take place on the southbound lanes from Friday, Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. until Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 4 a.m., is rescheduled for February, likely on Presidents Day weekend, Caltrans said.
The closure is due to a more than 70% chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. It’s going to be a cold, rainy, windy few days in the Bay Area. A Level 1 Storm Wednesday is bringing rain and wind throughout the day, and a Frost Advisory is in place Thursday morning, when temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s, 30s, and sometimes 20s.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the coast due to king tides.
The return of King Tides has prompted a Coastal Flood Advisory for the Bay shoreline from 8 AM to 11 AM tomorrow (Wednesday). High astronomical tides will cause minor flooding for flood-prone, low-lying areas near the bay shoreline. #CAwx pic.twitter.com/KjGNQhQt1F

In early 2023, a closure of the same area was rescheduled multiple times due to inclement weather.
