PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton City Council will consider applying for $228,805 in Permanent Local Housing Allocation funds from the state's Department of Housing and Community Development to support Tri-Valley Haven's temporary shelter operations while its domestic violence shelter is being rebuilt.

The PLHA program uses money for real estate transaction recordings to help cities address housing and homelessness issues, according to a city staff report. Pleasanton received $644,361 from 2019-2021, which it split between CityServe and Tri-Valley Haven. The city is now eligible to apply for $228,805 for 2022-23.

Those funds would help Tri-Valley Haven operate a temporary shelter while it rebuilds its former 30-bed shelter into a new 45-bed facility. Temporary shelters include motels and a rented home.
