Amador Valley Sophomore Injured In Hit-And-Run
The student was reportedly crossing Del Valle Parkway with the light when he collided with a gold pickup truck that sped away.

PLEASANTON, CA —An Amador Valley High school student was hit at a crosswalk on his way to school Tuesday morning, according to an account from his mother shared on Nextdoor and with Patch. The driver sped off, and is still at-large.
The 16-year-old sophomore was struck by a 1990s-era pickup truck at the crosswalk between Del Valle Parkway and Harvest Road at around 8:30 a.m., his mother told Patch in an email. He was about four or five steps into the crosswalk when the truck collided with him, and knocked his left side of his body into the passenger side of the car. The son reportedly remembers hitting the truck so hard that he pushed the passenger mirror in. The truck then sped away.
The boy is physically in decent shape with a few bruises on his arm, his mother said. He went to the hospital to be evaluated.

“He’s extremely careful when it comes to crossing,” his mother said, noting that her son has reported a few close calls at crosswalks. “He’s told me he waits to make sure all cars stop and see him. He was sure this driver did see him because my son paused a moment after the truck stopped to make sure it was ok to go.”
