Long-Awaited East Bay Seafood Restaurant To Open Next Week: Report
General Manager Ramalah LaBang told Pleasanton Weekly the long-awaited restaurant will operate with limited hours starting Monday.
PLEASANTON, CA — Yes, it's finally happening, and we promise this isn't a joke. The general manager of Cook's Seafood confirmed to Pleasanton Weekly that the Pleasanton location will launch a soft opening at Koll Center Plaza on Monday, May 12.

The restaurant will first open its doors to friends and family on Thursday and Friday, General Manager Ramalah LaBang told The Weekly. It will open to the public on Monday, and will be open Monday through Sunday from 5-9 p.m. LaBang said he does not know when the restaurant and market will be able to operate under normal hours, which are currently from 10:30 to 8 p.m. every day except Sunday at the location in Menlo Park.
Pleasanton residents have become well-acquainted with the "Coming Soon" sign on the window of Cook's Seafood, which has been there since the first permits were filed in 2017. However, it lay mostly dormant until earlier this year, when the city of Pleasanton issued Cook’s a new permit to replace a permit that expires in March. On April 1 - perhaps not the best day to inform a skeptical public - CBS News was able to confirm with the general manager that they would open "very soon." Video footageshowed a finished-looking interior with booths, chairs, tables, and lighting.

On April 26, a commenter on Nextdoor noted that she was able to peek in when the door was left ajar, and a man she spoke to told her that the restaurant was training staff, and planned to open in three weeks. Others noted seeing paper down from the windows, and people going in and out. Yet just as many said they'd believe it when they saw it.
With this latest announcement, it seems like "soon" may have finally arrived.
