Dozens Cited Across Tri-Valley In E-Bike Safety Sting

Police issued warnings to more than 75 riders during the operation and urged e-bike owners to heed the rules of the road.

PLEASANTON, CA — During a Tri-Valley regional safety effort on May 21 to crack down on unsafe e-bike riding, 28 citations were issued, authorities said Tuesday.

During the operation, 76 warnings were given across the Tri-Valley region as officers searched for those riding unsafely, violating traffic laws and bikes that are not street legal or didn't meet the rules for e-bikes, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

In Pleasanton, six riders were cited.

"Please remember to stay safe and follow the rules when riding your e-bike," the department said.

The joint effort was led by police officers from Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville and the East Bay Regional Police Department.
