I-680 Reopens After Truck Hits Sign: CHP

PLEASANTON, CA — I-680 northbound at Stoneridge Drive reopened as of 11:37 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

All northbound lanes of Interstate 680 were closed and a Sigalert was issued Wednesday morning at Stoneridge Drive after a dump truck with its bed raised struck an overhead sign, authorities said.

California Highway Patrol announced the closure on social media around 7:10 a.m. and said Caltrans would be inspecting the sign. Drivers were instructed as of shortly before 8:30 a.m. to use exits south of Stoneridge Drive or State Route 84 east into Livermore as a detour.

Images of the damage shared by highway patrol showed a metal beam that appeared to be out of place and a tear in the sign. As of about 10:15 a.m. the sign had been taken down and equipment was in the process of being removed, with the area expected to reopen in an hour or two, authorities said.
