Tax Filing Deadline Extended For Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton residents impacted by the ongoing series of storms will have extra times to file their taxes this year.

The Internal Revenue Service has extended its annual tax return due date by a month for people who live in areas declared an emergency by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the IRS said Tuesday.

Alameda is among 12 greater Bay Area counties that will have until May 15 to file. The deadline has also been extended for Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Monterey, Napa, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Solano and Sonoma counties.

Eligible taxpayers will also have until May 15 to make 2022 contributions to their IRAs and health savings accounts.

Taxpayers will not have to take action to initiate the extension and do not have to contact the agency to get this relief, the IRS said.

Other extensions will be granted to farmers, those who pay quarterly estimated payments, and those who pay quarterly payroll and excise taxes.
