Man Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 84 Identified

The Lathrop man was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.

PLEASANTON, CA: A 22-year-old man who died Friday night in a head-on collision on state Highway 84 just outside of Pleasanton has been identified as Larry Munoz, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau. The collision was first reported at 9:05 p.m. on Highway 84 west of Ruby Hill Drive, California Highway Patrol officials said.

Munoz, a Lathrop resident, was driving a silver Nissan 370Z in the highway's westbound lanes. At the same time, a gray Ford F-250 pickup truck was traveling east on Highway 84. Munoz somehow lost control of his vehicle as it crossed over two sets of double yellow lines and collided with the Ford, according to the CHP.

Munoz was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said. The driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. CHP officers closed the highway for about an hour while they investigated the collision.
