New Amador Valley High School Principal Appointed

Malcolm Norrington, a former Vice President at Foothill, will take over in the fall.

PLEASANTON, CA — Malcolm Norrington, a former vice principal at Foothill High School, will take over as principal of Amador Valley High School in the fall of 2025, the Pleasanton Unified School District announced.

Norrington is currently serving his second year as principal of El Cerrito High School, according to the district. Before that, he served four years as vice principal of Foothill High School. He has also served as the summer school principal of Amador Valley High School, and as a middle and high school teacher. Norrington will complete his educational doctorate through the Leaders for Equity and Democracy program at UC Berkeley in 2026.

I am committed to serving with transparency, integrity, and love, and I am confident in our shared ability to ensure every student thrives.”

“Malcolm Norrington brings strong administrative experience and an understanding of our PUSD
community that will allow him to hit the ground running at Amador,” said Interim Superintendent Maurice Ghysels said in a statement. “As a former Don, I am excited for his leadership to strengthen our already stellar team at Amador Valley High School.”
