Pleasanton Announces Memorial Day Ceremony
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held on Monday, May 29 at the Pleasanton Senior Center.

From the City of Pleasanton: A Memorial Day ceremony will be held on Monday May 29, 2017 at the Pleasanton Senior Center, located at 5353 Sunol Blvd., at 11 a.m.
Memorial Day focuses on those who have died while serving our nation in the Armed Forces. The practice of honoring our fallen began as Decoration Day after the Civil War when families of both Union and Confederate forces began to decorate the graves of the fallen. Decoration Day eventually became Memorial Day in the early part of the 20th century in an effort to remember all who died in service to our nation.
Primary speakers will be US Army veteran Mayor Jerry Thorne and US Army Colonel (Promotable) Shane Buzza, Chief of Staff for the Pacific Division, 75th Training Command at Camp Parks. The renowned Pleasanton Community Band, under the direction of Bob Williams, will perform a variety of patriotic music.
