New Details Emerge On Pleasanton Murder-Suicide
Police say the suspect was an estranged boyfriend, and the couple had one child together.
PLEASANTON, CA - Pleasanton police have released new information on the murder-suicide that took place Thursday.
The victim was a Pleasanton resident alone in her home on Saginaw Circle at around 11 a.m. Her estranged boyfriend allegedly forced entry through the rear slide of her home, and during a confrontation shot her several times before fleeing in a car. Pleasanton officers arrived moments later to find her dead of several gunshot wounds.
A neighbor called to report the sound of gunshots and provided a description of the suspect vehicle. A Pleasanton officer in an unmarked car saw the car as it was approaching westbound I-580 and began to follow it. The car collided with a center median and stopped on I-580 near Miramonte Avenue in San Leandro. Officers attempted to communicate, but the suspect was unresponsive, police said.

At that time, I-580 was closed in both directions for about two hours as numerous backup agencies arrived on-scene. Officers deployed less lethal munitions and gas into the vehicle, but there was still no response. Officers approached the vehicle and saw the suspect dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The victim and suspect have a child in common, whom police say is with relatives. In accordance with confidentiality laws related to domestic violence, police are not releasing the names of the victim or the suspect.
