PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton Unified School District Board will vote Thursday to approve up to $395,000 in emergency repairs to the Amador Valley High School small gym, which was damaged in a fire March 17. The funds will be drawn from the district’s Routine Restricted Maintenance account, and be reimbursed through property liability insurance.

A staff report said that emergency work is needed for fire and water damage to the gym roof, walls, flooring, doors, and electricity “in order to avoid danger to health and damage to property.” The work will “stabilize the damage” and “reopen the non-damaged areas,” as well as additional assessment and planning work to determine further repairs.

The damage is being classified as an emergency, which means that the normal public bidding process is not necessary.
