Pleasanton Student Raises Over $35K For Families In Need
Mateo of Pleasanton has raised thousands for families in need by baking and selling cookies at Gene's Fine Food.

PLEASANTON, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Mateo has been baking and selling cookies for the last 4 years to fund food for families in need. He started with his sister and continued alone after she left for college 2 years ago. Together they have raised over $35K with the support of the Tri Valley community. He started a cottage food operation and now sells his cookies at Gene’s fine foods
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
He is very kind and has found a way to support families in need consistently. He received an award from GivingTuesday as well as George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award.
