PUSD Board To Vote On Interim Superintendent

The board is voting for an interim superintendent to replace David Haglund, who advocated for Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton Unified School District Board will vote Thursday in a closed session meeting on an interim superintendent to replace outgoing Superintendent David Haglund. They will announce their decision later that evening in the open meeting.

Haglund announced in April that he planned to leave at the end of the year and move to Southern California to be closer to his family. Initially, he said that he wanted his last day to be Aug. 1, and that he helped develop a succession plan naming Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo as the next interim superintendent, according to reports in Pleasanton Weekly. However, the board opted not to choose Diolazo, and posted a job opening online. When Haglund learned this, he decided to leave June 30, according to Pleasanton Weekly.

The new interim superintendent will start July 1 and will be paid a daily rate along with a monthly reimbursement stipend, according to a board staff report.
