Rep. Eric Swalwell to Host 3rd Annual Hackathon for Local Students

The Hackathon invites students in the 15th Congressional District to compete in developing their own apps.

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) will host his third annual Hackathon for local students, in conjunction with theCongressional App Challenge, on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 at Workday in Pleasanton.

Sponsored by Rep. Swalwell, Workday, and Knodemy, the Hackathon invites students residing in the 15th Congressional District to compete in developing their own apps, and attend programming workshops on Java, Eclipse, and Android SDK. Students of all coding experience levels and grades K-12 are welcome to attend.

The Congressional App Challenge is designed to engage students’ creativity and encourage participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Established by members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, the nationwide competition provides students with the opportunity to create and exhibit their software apps for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.
