Retro Pleasanton Bar Set To Close: 'End Of Our Song'

"Our revenue just hasn't kept pace with the rising costs and our very high rent increases," bar officials posted on social media.

PLEASANTON, CA — A mid-century designed bar in the East Bay has announced it'll be shutting down after one last call on Sunday.

"Our revenue just hasn't kept pace with the rising costs and our very high rent increases (we would have had to do 300% more revenue to justify our rent)," officials at Middle 8 bar in Pleasanton announced over the weekend.

Although the post described the situation as the "end of our song," it seems there's hope that the closure will only be temporary.

"We've had an amazing time but we're going to close (for now)!" the post said. "We hope to quickly move to a new location."

The business, named after the eight-bar section in a song where the melody and lyrics drastically change, opened in 2021.

The bar was a place for "anyone seeking something just a little different" and looking for connections.

"Stepping into Middle8 feels like dropping the needle on your favorite vinyl," according to the company's website. "We're not just a bar; we're the pause between the chaos — your personal interlude."
