Truck Catches Fire On I-580: CHP, LPFD
Photos show the front of the truck fully engulfed in flames, though traffic moves normally next to it.
PLEASANTON, CA — A semi-trailer truck caught fire on eastbound I-580 near El Charro Road in Pleasanton at around 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
A photo tweeted by CHP shows the front of the truck on fire, with thick plumes of smoke billowing out. The photo also shows the truck in the breakdown lane, with two more lanes closed next to it. Traffic appears to be moving normally next to it. Ambulances, firefighters, and officers were also on-site, per the photos.
Crews from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and Alameda County Fire Department arrived to find the engine compartment and cab fully engulfed, and flames were spreading to nearby vegetation, according to an LPFD social media post. Crews put out the fire in around 10 minutes, LPFD said.

The incident is not recorded on the CHP log as of 4 p.m. Patch is awaiting further information from CHP.
