Lightning, Rain Reported In Poway: NWS
Lightning strikes were recorded over Poway and throughout San Diego following a breathtaking sunset.

POWAY, CA — Summer is off to a dramatic start in Poway as a thunderstorm brought lightning and a bit of rain to the area.
“You’re not imagining things. Several lightning strikes have been detected with a thunderstorm that moved over Poway and is now heading towards Escondido. The strikes could be seen from Carlsbad and Oceanside,” the National Weather Service tweeted around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The NWS also confirmed that Poway recorded 0.17 inches of rain as the thunderstorm, which originated in Baja, moved west.

The thunderstorm followed a dramatic sunset with giant, red and golden-hued cumulus clouds. On Wednesday, Poway is in for 43 percent cloud cover and a six percent chance of precipitation, but no more thunderstorms, according to AccuWeather. Wind gusts of 16 mph are also predicted.
Temperatures are expected to remain hot and sunny the rest of the week.

For now, San Diego is in for a windy, cloudy, and possibly rainy Wednesday. Accuweather predicts a 25 percent chance of precipitation, a one percent chance of thunderstorms, and 0.5 inches of rain, with gusts of up to 25 percent. Forty-seven percent cloud cover is expected.
Flash flooding is possible in some parts of San Diego County, the National Weather Services predicted, as scattered showers and thunderstorms develop from south to north.
