Brush Fires Under Investigation Thursday; Full Containment Expected in Afternoon

Several homes were threatened by three brush fires off San Vicente Road but no damage or injuries were reported.

Three brush fires briefly threatened a few homes along San Vicente Road early Wednesday evening, according to Ramona Fire Department and CalFire. Motorists told Ramona Patch they saw tall flames erupting shortly before 5:30 p.m. near Bunnie King Lane. The burn area eventually grew to 15 acres. CalFire is on the scene investigating today.

A water-dropping helicopter and firefighting airplane responded from Ramona Air Attack Base Wednesday night, as well as ground crews from local fire stations. They had the five-acre fire mostly extinguished by 6:30 p.m., and then ground crews remained on the scene to mop up.

There were no reports of structural damage or injuries.
