New seats will be voted on and a big plan for Santa Maria Wastewater Plant will be discussed.

The Jan. 8 Ramona Municipal Water District Board meeting will be the first for two new members George Foote and Rex Schildhouse.

The first meeting of the new year will decide positions for each of the five members and ad hoc committees will be chosen or dissolved.

Water District General Manager David Barnum said the board will also be taking action on an item regarding the Santa Maria Wastewater Reclamation Plant.

The plant, which is in need of upgrades, may undergo a master plan, the first of its kind, according to Barnum. The plan would be spread out into 5-10 years and could cut upgrade costs by half, he said.

"If you don't do anything [to Santa Maria], it wouldn't be operating efficiently," Barnum said of the imminent upgrades.

The board will vote on whether or not to start a fee study for the master plan.
