The county is close to bidding for contracts for a project that will widen and straighten San Vicente Road and add other improvements, the Department of Public Works wrote in an email.
The county board of supervisors will decide whether to approve bidding for the project on February 26, and subsequently award a contract to the lowest bidder, wrote Project Manager Steve Ron.Â
He wrote that the contract should be chosen in late spring, but that construction wouldn't begin until September 2014, because of the bird breeding season.
Ron stressed that "during construction emergency access will be maintained, flagging will occur as needed, but not for long periods of time."
The project will take about 18 months to construct, or spring 2016, he estimated.
The improvements will extend from Warnock Drive to 1,000 feet east of Wildcat Canyon Road, and will also include a pathway for bicycles, pedestrians and equestrians.
