The candidates, incumbents and issues that will be affecting Rancho Santa Margarita and the county.

As we look ahead to November’s general election, Rancho Santa Margarita Patch is devoted to bringing you the information you need about every race in town. Here's our start on the candidates and issues we'll be covering as November draws near.
In Rancho Santa Margarita, there are three city council seats up for election, the two four-year seats currently held by Mayor Tony Beall and Jerry Holloway, and the two-year seat to which Carol Gamble was appointed as a replacement for Gary Thompson.
So far, Beall, Gamble, Glenn Acosta, Kenney Hrabik and Peter Whittingham have filed papers with the city indicating they are mounting campaigns. A few weeks ago, Acosta and Hrabik publicly announced they were running. Friday night, Beall made his announcement public.
